Our Story

Power Island Ltd was born from a simple belief: that Quality Assurance and Health & Safety, when done properly, can transform a business. Not just in compliance terms, but in the way people work, the confidence they feel, and the results they deliver.

For me, this work has never been a box‑ticking exercise. As I’ve often said:

“Quality Assurance and Health & Safety are subjects that I am passionate about… I believe it provides a unique opportunity to improve lives and benefit businesses that other roles simply do not provide.”

That belief has shaped a career spanning more than 30 years. During that time, I have worked across Automotive, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Construction and Power Generation. I didn’t fall into this field. I chose it. Throughout my career, I’ve seen first‑hand how the right systems, culture and leadership can transform complex, high‑risk environments. More importantly, these elements can create workplaces where people thrive and businesses excel.

Where It Started

Jon Dent with Jet Engine - Power Island Ltd

My early years were spent on the shop floor and in supplier quality roles, learning what "quality" really means when you're face-to-face with the people who build, inspect and rely on the product. Those experiences taught me that improvement only sticks when the people doing the work believe in it.

Later, in senior roles across Safran, David Brown and EP UK Investments, I led major programmes, developed Business Management Systems from the ground up, and supported businesses valued at over £1 billion. I chaired investigations into serious safety incidents, integrated new assets into group systems, and developed Continuous Improvement programmes that delivered millions in savings.

But the thread running through all of it was always the same: engage people, understand the culture, and build systems that genuinely help.

Why Power Island Ltd Exists

After years of leading Quality and H&S at group level, I saw a gap. Large corporations had access to deep expertise, structured systems and specialist support — but many SMEs, especially in Energy, Construction and Manufacturing, were left to navigate complex requirements alone.

So I created Power Island Ltd to change that.

“I have set up Power Island Ltd to offer businesses QHS support that is pragmatic, appropriate and tailored to your needs.”

We don’t overwhelm clients with bureaucracy or hand over a list of problems and walk away. Instead, we work alongside you to understand your culture, your pressures and your people. From there, we build solutions that are sustainable, scalable and genuinely useful.

We also focus on the areas that many businesses find challenging, including auditing, system development, root‑cause analysis, supplier improvement, and the slow, steady work of building capability. As a result, our clients receive practical support that helps them strengthen their business over time.

“We are passionate about these things, so you don’t have to be.”

What We Stand For

Power Island is built on three principles:

  1. Honesty and clarity

We believe in being open and honest with our clients, even when the message may be uncomfortable. Above all, we always act in your best interests.

  1. Practical, human‑centred improvement

Systems only work when people believe in them. Therefore, we design processes around your business, your people and the way you work, rather than expecting you to fit around the system.

  1. Sustainable performance

Our goal is to leave your business stronger than we found it. In turn, this means better systems, stronger behaviours and improved outcomes that continue to deliver value over time.
